Harry Potter London Tour

To celebrate the official opening of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre in London, we have put together a special itinerary which will take fans to some of the capital’s most famous locations from the Harry Potter films.

Real Harry Potter enthusiasts may wish to extend this trip to include locations around the country such as Alnwick Castle and Durham Cathedral in the North East and Edinburgh and the Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland.

What's included...

Day 1 - Platform 9 ¾

For the duration of our stay in London, we will reside at the luxury 5* St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The hotel’s spectacular Victorian façade was used numerously in the Harry Potter films to represent King’s Cross Station, and it was from in front of this hotel that Harry and Ron took off in Mr Weasley’s flying Ford Anglia in the Chamber of Secrets. Our first order of the day will be a quick hop next door to visit the famous trolley in the wall at Kings Cross Station’s Platform 9 ¾. After we’ve taken advantage of this fun photo opportunity it’s off to the second stop on our London Harry Potter tour. A walk through the beautiful Regent’s Park will take us to ZSL London Zoo which, among its many attractions, contains the Reptile House where Harry learns he can talk to snakes and accidentally sets free a Brazilian Boa Constrictor in the Philosopher’s Stone. Just across the road from London Zoo is Primrose Hill, while not relating to Harry Potter it does offer a superb view over London. After a busy afternoon of sight-seeing there is no better place to relax and enjoy some excellent fresh food than the fashionable Primrose Hill haunt, Greenberry Café.

Day 2 - Diagon Alley

Charing Cross Road, location of the Leaky Cauldron in JK Rowling’s series of books and the gateway to Diagon Alley. In reality Charing Cross Road is the gateway to the heart of London’s West End and while there may not be an owl emporium or apothecary, there are still plenty of narrow, shop-lined streets selling everything from rare antique books to fashionable clothes and accessories. Wander around Neal’s Yard and Cecil Court, which are not a million miles away from Rowling’s description of the cramped and colourful wizard high street with the same sense of antiquity. Next stop is Piccadilly Circus, where Harry, Ron and Hermione barely escape the wheels of a number 19 bus after escaping from the invasion of Death-Eaters at Bill and Fleur’s wedding in Deathly Hallows Part 1. We will be dining at Piccadilly’s Hawksmoor Air Street, widely acknowledged as the finest steak house in London, whose discreet exterior hides a magnificent art-deco interior which seems (like the wizards’ tents at the Quidditch World Cup in the Goblet of Fire) to be bigger on the inside – it’s magic! Tonight is our first of two theatre trips to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part I at the Palace Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue. There has been much secrecy surrounding the newest instalment in the Harry Potter series in an attempt to maintain the element of surprise for audiences, but all reviews so far seem to suggest that fans will not be disappointed. After the show we’ll head for a Harry Potter-themed nightcap at the London Cocktail Club and discuss the play over a delicious Butterbeer cocktail.

Day 3 - Muggle London

Today we’ll take in some of the Muggle sights of London that appear in the films. First stop is Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament – Westminster Tube Station was closed for a whole day during filming for the Order of the Phoenix. After this we’ll head to the Millennium Bridge which was used in the dramatic opening scene of Half-Blood Prince, where it collapses and crashes into the Thames following an attack by Death-Eaters. Time allowing, we will explore St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tate Modern which lie at either end of the bridge. This evening we’ll enjoy Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part II at the Palace Theatre before enjoying our final night’s stay in the elegant St Pancras Renaissance.

Day 4 - Behind-the-scenes

The final day of our Harry Potter London tour and we may have just saved the very best for last! The Warner Brothers Studio Tour contains iconic sets, props and costumes from the making of all eight Harry Potter films. Lovers of Harry Potter will truly be overwhelmed with delight as we immerse ourselves in the magical wizarding world – it’s truly the experience of a lifetime for all fans.
