Cromlix, Perthshire - January 2017

Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI) are responsible for some of the finest luxury hotels in Scotland. Travel Bureau Destinations were lucky enough to visit two of these hotels in the summer and were blown away by the quality and attention to detail on display at these properties. (Read about our stay at Greywalls and our trip to Crossbasket Castle here.)
Another of the Scottish hotels under the ICMI banner is the Cromlix in Perthshire. Once a private home with royal connections, the building dates back to the late 19th century. Built by the son of the Earl of Kinnoul and visited by King Edward VII in 1908, Cromlix now belongs to British sporting royalty.
Tennis legend, Sir Andy Murray, world number one and two-times Wimbledon champion, purchased Cromlix House in 2013. After extensive refurbishment, the 5* Cromlix Hotel opened in 2014 and over the past three years has brought in a host of prestigious awards.
With its old-world style and traditional country house hospitality, it’s no wonder customers love staying at Cromlix. Add to this some of the best food in Scotland, with a restaurant overseen by renowned Michelin-star chef Albert Roux OBE, and it’s no surprise that the hotel has been full to the rafters since it opened.
It has now been announced that the hotel will embark upon a programme of expansion to improve the facilities at Cromlix and allow more guests to experience this Scottish gem.
The proposed plans to extend into the walled garden area of Cromlix’s 34-acre estate will create an additional 30 bedrooms to complement the existing 15 rooms and suites in the original house. In addition, the development will include brand new spa treatment rooms and a state of the art gym designed by Andy Murray himself.
A new area for breakfast and afternoon tea will be added to the existing Chez Roux restaurant and a conference and event area for up to 200 people will make Cromlix a desirable destination for exclusive business travel.
Work for the new development is anticipated to begin next year with the grand opening scheduled for 2020 and we can’t wait to see the results.
