Brontë Parsonage Museum launches new exhibitions

In the village of Haworth, Yorkshire, near the windswept landscapes whose influence can be found in such classics as Jane Eyre and Wutheirng Heights, is the Brontë Parsonage Museum. This former home of the literary Brontë sisters now serves as a venue to celebrate and study their lives and the works which have made them some of Britain’s most beloved authors. After closing for the month of January, the museum reopened at the start of this month with two new exhibitions which will run all through 2017.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Branwell Brontë, the infamous and often troublesome brother of Charlotte, Emily and Anne. To mark this occassion the Parsonage Museum has produced a stunning new exhibition called 'Mansions in the Sky', which gives visitors a heretofore unseen insight into the thoughts and actions of the notorious Brontë brother and his colorful personal history. The exhibition has been curated by Simon Armitage, the museum's creative partner for this year, and as well as a dramatic recreation of Branwell's studio, it also includes a series of new poems by the acclainmed author.
The second exhibition to tempt visitors is an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of To Walk Invisible, Sally Wainright's celebrated BBC drama about the Brontë sisters. 'To Walk Invisible - From Parsonage to Production' will provide a rare opportunity for teh public to see costumes and props from the television drama along with a display of photographs taken during the filmnaking process.
As if this isn't enough to entice you to visit the Brontë Parsonage Museum in 2017, visitors will also be able to go beyond closed doors into the Parsonage Library for a close-up viewing of rare, undisplayed items. These unique 'Brontë Treasures' sessions will take place once a month when a member of the museum's curatorial team will offer visitors a special glimpse into the hsitory of the family, sharing facts and stories about a number of carefully-selected objects.
